Detail views of the Pate suspension manufactured by Aviation Electric Limited in Montreal. Introduced by the RCAF in 1958, it remained standard issue for aircrew almost three decades later in 1987 when this article was written. “Turbo” Tarling was still using his Pate suspension while piloting the Jet Aircraft Museum’s T-33 in 2011. The Pate was not adopted by the USAF/USN.
